Am I nuts or did I just read that the only bail outs ought to go to the big banks, mortgage companies etc, that ended up driving folks out of their homes and crashed our economy while their CEO's went on costly junkets to resorts and spent millions!!!!!!!

Its the little guy that works making our cars and getting their hands dirty who have been walked on and over looked thru this 8 years of signing statements , Fisa, and wire tapping , coporate welfare with tax breaks for the Cheney/Bush [sign in to see URL] its their turn...

You can !@#$ and moan all you like.. we did the same thing for 8 yrs and if it wasnt a law on the books, Bush simply made another signing statement and made it one.. and HE [sign in to see URL] didnt stand in his way.. unions meant mothing, workers meant nothing ,, the rich was the only people he knew existed....

This is your wake up call.. its not going to be that way anymore.. single moms will eat and be warm, health care will come and so will fairness and open handed policies we can all believe in... if not, we will be more than ready to throw him out, but it wont help you for Republicans are out to sea, rudderless with no likely leader and an even worse reputation...

Sure, I can hear you now.. Im not repblican, Im Libertarian... well BS... if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its an [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] "by their words, we shall know them"!

The banks and mortage companies did not deserve a bailout either.

I opposed both.

BChapter 11 protection may be precisely what is needed to put American auto companies back on the path to profitability. Bankruptcy laws specifically are designed to give companies an opportunity - under court supervision - to reduce costs and streamline operations.

Bankruptcy would not be popular in some quarters, to be sure. The bloated management structure would be streamlined and many overpaid executives would be unhappy about having to find new jobs.

The UAW would be equally upset, particularly since bankruptcy might force an end to extravagant pension benefits and inefficient workplace practices. But bankruptcy is akin to getting an alcoholic to put down the bottle. There clearly will be short-term discomfort, but compassionate people recognize that this is the best approach.

America is on a dangerous path. The Wall Street bailout was a mistake. It transferred a huge amount of money from the productive sector of the economy to the government, and also exacerbated "moral hazard" by rewarding companies and executives who made dumb decisions. But this may be the tip of the iceberg.

A bailout of [sign in to see URL] auto companies also would be a mistake, as would bailouts of homeowners or any other constituency. If politicians genuinely want to help the economy, they should focus on reducing the burden of government, not increasing it.

That's the crux. Unions would have to renegotiate benefits packages and become competitive again. Look at the manufacturers in the south where there are no unions--BMW, Hyundai, Honda, etc. With Obama's allegiance to unions, this will be a major issue.

You dumbass. The original post had a premise that Democrats depend on union bosses to tell their members who to vote for. That's as dumb as you are.

You really do have a hard time connecting dots don't you?

You realize; if you kept your keyboard quiet then few (other than your friends) would realize you IQ is below 60.

Yes, but if you stayed off your keyboard we'd all feel blessed.
And you'd be blissful. After all---ignorance IS bliss for dimwits such as you.
