Then perhaps you need to make whatever point you wanted to make a bit more clearly.

So the CEOs and their compensation packages don't effect the price of their products, only the union workers do??

Is that you position??

The money comes off of different trees???

It is OK to be a moron, it is not OK to be one in public.

Worker costs amount to 8 to 10 per cent of the cost of a vehicle.
At the rate CEOs are plundering auto makers, their compensation packages will soon equal that cost. Like rats jumping sinking ships, the CEOs are fleeing with billions while the companies they managed flounder due to their incompetence.

!@#$ about CEO pay all you wish, the question remains... should the auto manufacturers get "bailed out" with our tax dollars?

I say no.

If bankruptcy occurs, who would want to buy an auto from that company?
Can this nation survive economically with no auto manufacturers?

Saltine, Senator Obama no longer gets to choose what vehicle he gets driven around in. The Secret Service makes that selection and has for quite some time.

As to the original question. I am all for letting the big 3 file for bankruptcy. But, let's face it, the economy will be terribly impacted. The same point can be made for the financial institution bailout, which keeps morphing because it was legislated so hastily. That being the case, some strings -- well thought out, sound business strings -- would need to be attached to any bailout.
(The ridiculousness of forcing BofA and, I believe, Citizens to take $$$ they said they didn't want and then get all huffy about them giving out bonuses should not be repeated. Gee, why do you think they didn't want or need the bailout money? Could it be because their management was doing a good job?)

As an aside, I think Paulson is a joke.
