Re: From a Liberal: Why we need the unpopular Electoral College

As we celebrate Martin Luther King Day, let’s look at some of the things he said challenged capitalism and are left out of most history books.

“I imagine you already know that I am much more socialistic in my economic theory than capitalistic… [Capitalism] started out with a noble and high motive… but like most human systems it fell victim to the very thing it was revolting against. So today capitalism has out-lived its usefulness.” –
Martin Luther King-Letter to Coretta Scott, July 18, 1952.

Gtar, I'm not sure you understood his point. ....

I'm pretty sure that's not the issue.

I understand just fine. Posting a clearly articulated response is what jammed me up.

The EC may have disappointed fans of H. Ross Perot, but they damned sure didn't "thwart the will of the people" in 1992. Not in any context remotely comparable to what took place in 2016, anyway.

Approx 20 million votes cast for Perot placed him third by a mile in a three way race.

My own vote was among the nearly 40 million cast for [sign in to see URL] Bush, who still finished nearly 5 million popular votes behind the total cast for Pres. Clinton.

The EC would've had to hand the office to Bush in order to thwart the will of the people in any context even remotely comparable to what took place in 2016, and Perot's finish wouldn't even have been a factor in that equation.

Exactly. 80% of the voters did not want Perot.

Gtar is referring to Ross P. fans, and shar is not bright enough troll to figure that out.

How do you debate that?

lmao

100% of EC voters did not want the libertarian's 100% of the time. That fact does not make the EC fair. Unless you have mental issues.
