Re: As of today...

The funny thing is, after reading up on it, it seems that the US-China trade truce spiked the DOW as investors anticipated the results and resumed an appetite for risk.

But then it plummeted yesterday when the reality set in that the truce won't last - maybe the investors didn't think Trump would keep his word?

To be fair, it wasn't just Trump. The 10 year treasury rate drop was extended (I think for another 3 months - I'll have to defer to a Patango "gotcha google" for that).

If you're a geek like me, and into "signaling", then it's interesting to note that when the spread between the short-dated and longer-dated bonds narrows, it's generally a signal that bond investors don't have an optimistic outlook on the economy.

Also, as of yesterday the government debt benchmark and 2-year Treasury note spread is the thinnest it's been in more than 10 years.

Trump and his GOP have been bragging about the stock market since they took office.

Shar has had no problem with that at all.

shar only complains when liberals respond to the GOP rhetoric.

If you google a DOW chart for the last 5, 10, 20, 100 years, you'll see a zig-zag line (spikes and drops) that is ultimately trending upward. A president, CEO, senator, event - all can cause the spikes and drops. But they have little or no effect on the long term rise.

You and Trump presented a horse !@#$ argument and excuses (like that), and it was crushed by 5 torpedoes to your helm.

Why don't you man-up instead of just bouncing on Trumps lap?

But they (presidents) have little or no effect on the long term rise.

After arguing;

I’m sure you heard. The DOW went up about a half-trillion points yesterday.

thanks to the incredible brilliance and efforts of the world’s greatest economic mind, Barack Obama.

This is bad news for President Oboogabooga running for reelection

Now shar will pretend the subject matter of the OP is something "else", he will just make up stuff as he goes.

Just Like Trump does.

I'm not sure where you see me praising Trump anywhere on this thread. But if you had trouble understanding my posts, perhaps someone can jump in here and tell you that I'm not.

Civilized people see what the subject matter is.

We also know what the (R) current events have been the last 2 years.

We also know a GOP-shar-troll when we see 1.

Reality based thinkers can spot a well known (R) excuse maker a mile away.

It will remain volatile. Trade war fears, fear of Fed spiking interest rates too high, drop in oil prices (signals unhealthy global economy), investor over-reaction (dumping their stocks, fearing a repeat of 2008).

Or, it's caused by GOP incompetence. Take your pick.

Trump is reportedly 'glued' to the stock market's fluctuations and worried he's causing them
